One of the rather few big Taishūsakaba in south Tokyo. Located in the busy Kamata district, about 3 min from JR Kamata station. The place has 4 floors, about 150 people can sit here. Many locals come here, salary men, shop owners from the nearby shopping mall, alone or in groups. The first floor has a counter and tables, in the upper floors counter, tables and tatami seating. The building is a little shaky, I really don’t want to be at one of the upper floors in case of a major earthquake... The female staff are friendly and know their stuff, smile and they will smile back. The menu is huge, from raw fish to yakitori, something for everybody, however, quality and taste are a little inconsistent. Don’t miss to order the 鰈の唐揚げ (Karei no kara age / fried flounder), tasty, crispy (400 Yen), also the 春巻き (harumaki / spring rolls) (320 Yen) and 鮪ユッケ (maguro yukke / minced tuna) (380 Yen) are recommendable. One of the few places I know in south Tokyo which serves Hoppy (370 Yen).
On the upper floors even groups of 4 or 6 persons will usually find space. Open Sundays. No escape from the smoke. Toilets Japanese style, unisex, rolling up your trouser legs recommended.
Beer (633ml bottle): 490 Yen
