Located 1 min. walk from Keisei-line Horikirishoubuen station. The place is in business since 1952 and to be frank looks like it has not seen any fresh paint since then. The clients sit along a counter which encircles the kitchen-chaos.

Here everybody drinks 元祖ハイボール (ganso highball) (300 Yen) which is shochu mixed with soda water, served with a cut of lemon but without ice. Not very strong, so you have to empty a few to feel the punch. The food is reasonably priced, all in a range from 200 to 350 Yen. The place has some specials on the menu: the ニラ卵 (niratamago) (300 Yen), Chinese leek fried with egg, ist soft and tasty. Also the どんどん焼き (dondonyaki) (350 Yen), a kind of pancake with chopped seafood and cabbages, served directly in the fry-pan, is recommendable. The 酢納豆 (sunattō) (250 Yen), fermented soy beans mixed with chopped cucumber, seafood and vinegar, is quite refreshing, provided you like nattō.

The place is run by a family, all under the command of the friendly daughter, pa prepares the fish, brother mixes the highball (mom reads the newspaper).

The counter can seat about 30 persons, because of its zig zag pattern it has many corners so you can easily talk to each other if you come in a group. Not very crowded, I came on a Saturday at opening time and was the only guest, by 7 p.m. there where 10 guests.

Beer (633ml bottle): 600 Yen
