2 min from Tokyu Jiyugaoka station, since 1936. 1st floor with a double U-shaped counter, 2nd floor tatami seating. Capacity about 60 persons. The food has quality, is tasty and changes with the season, the drinks are standard. Food and drinks are a little overpriced in my opinion. Master and staff all family (I guess).
My problem with this place is: the staff never smiles. Perhaps this runs in the family.
One more thing: when you come with two persons and there are a few single seats available at the counter, a friendly Izakaya would not hesitate to ask one of their regulars to shift to the right or left to make space for two guests who want to sit together. Not so at Kaneda. So you wait, and in the meantime the vacant seats are filled with guests who came alone afterwards. Or you do what I did last time: say doomo and head for one of the alternative places nearby in Jiyugaoka. And there are plenty of them: Katoriya just 10 m across the road, Kawame, Gingyo, and Toyoda. Another alternative if you like raw chicken: Tachibana in Yutenji, just 6 min by train from Jiyugaoka.
Beer (633ml bottle): 630 Yen
