High quality Izakaya in Jiyugaoka, 4 min from Tokyu Jiyugaoka station. L-shaped counter and tables, capacity about 25 persons. The owner-chef is the pretty lady behind the counter. The counter top displays 4-5 todays specials on Japanese traditional dinner plates. Calm and relaxing atmosphere, the guests are business men and people living in the nearby upscale residential area. The food is tasty and definitely suited for the health-conscious. Recommendation: the seasonal raw fish, like 鯵のなめろう(aji no namerou / raw horse-mackerel mixed with miso) (630 Yen). Gingyo’s special is called 11種盛り( juisshu mori / 11 variety plate) chopped vegetables, fish and raw egg yolk which you mix yourself and wrap it in 海苔 (nori /seaweed) leaves (920 Yen). The drink selection is very good, including 25 different brands of shochu.
